The importance of pursuing a postgraduate qualification has become more evident with most of the careers showcased in Career Paths, requiring a minimum of a postgraduate qualification (for example: Honours Degree, Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s Degree or a PHD).

Degree Description
MSc (Mathematics or Applied Mathematics)

Admission Requirements
An applicant shall not be registered for the MSc degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics unless the applicant has: (i) an Honours degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics or has (ii) been admitted to the status of that degree in terms of Rule GR7(a); or (iii) attained a level of competence as defined in Rule GR7(b).

The School may prescribe further minimum criteria for admission to study.

Funding information
For both Masters and PhD students:  No tuition fee is charged for full-time masters and doctoral studies by research, for year one and first three years, of the degrees respectively. Subject to change at any time, full-time international students may be required to pay a prescribed international levy per semester. Students are eligible for this remission of tuition fees if studies are completed in the minimum prescribed period of study (PhD three years and Masters one year).

Students unable to complete within the minimum period will be charged additional fees as determined from time to time.

MSc in Computer Science

An applicant shall not be registered for the MSc degree in Computer Science by research unless the applicant has: (i) satisfied the requirements for a relevant prerequisite degree or postgraduate diploma as specified in the college concerned at level NQF 8; or (ii) been admitted to the status of that degree or postgraduate diploma in terms of Rule GR7(a); or (iii) attained a level of competence as defined in Rule GR7(b).

The School may prescribe further minimum criteria for admission to study.
