A PhD: Mathematical Sciences student should enrol for one of the following thesis codes as is applicable to his/her field of study: WIS 990 Thesis: Mathematics 990 (360 credits) or TWS 990 Thesis: Applied Mathematics 990 (360 credits). At least one refereed article should have been published or accepted for publication in an accredited journal before the end of the research period.

An appropriate master’s degree is required for admission to doctoral study in mathematics or in applied mathematics. The programme composition of the master’s degree must have included a heavy research component that led to a dissertation reflecting originality either in the content or in the presentation. In the selection procedure the candidate’s complete honours and master’s academic records will be considered.
