MSc Advanced Analytics
This masters degree trains students in advanced analytical skills required for the analysis of data in Commerce and Industry. It builds on honours level statistical knowledge. It is made up of course work totaling 90 credits, followed by a 90-credit dissertation. Modules cover both theory and practice and all modules include a significant computing. Core Modules include Advanced Regression, Multivariate Analysis and Simulation and Optimization. Elective modules include Machine Learning, Multivariate Analysis, Advanced Portfolio Theory, and Data Analysis for High frequency Trading as well as courses specializing in Biostatistics and Computer Science. The research component can be focused on a theoretical problem or on solving a complex applied problem.
An honours degree in Statistics or a four-year Bachelor’s degree equivalent to the UCT honours degree in Statistical Sciences with a mark of at least 65% in the 4th year of study at first attempt.
