Why study Mathematics at Wits?
The School of Mathematics has active research programmes in a broad spectrum of areas spearheaded by internationally recognised faculty. The Honours degree has easily accessible overlaps from other Schools and programmes within the mathematical sciences such as Computational and Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, big data, differential equations. The (National) Centre for Excellence which attracts a large number of experts from across the world has a number of activities such as seminars, workshops and video conferencing that students can participate in with ease.
- A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent.
- A pass in the relevant major course at this University or any other university whose programme has been approved by Senate.
- At least 60% average in the final undergraduate course.
