Can you tell us why you chose this career?

I knew of quantitative analysis as a career when I was in University and was quite delighted when I found out that my interests were in alignment with it. I have a keen interest for Mathematics and its various fields of application. The beauty of quantitative analysis is that it has no limits especially in this age where data is easily becoming the new currency with problem solving at the forefront. This drove my choice which was guided by staying relevant in an ever changing world , whilst doing some interesting work that can bring about true change to the world.

What’s a typical day like in your job?

I am in the data management office in my current rotation where I am deployed to the Global Markets business unit. My day can vary from looking at data service level agreements, designing data provision metrics, analyzing data to doing data profiling or researching a department to come up with data quality solutions.

What are the some of the highlights and challenges of your role?

The highlight has got to be meeting new people, learning about how a business works from an operations and data flow perspective and just seeing how the whole thing fits together.

Some of the challenges I face are having to understand the whole business in a short period of time so you can actually start doing your work and providing the necessary support that is needed.

How do you keep up to date with all the changes in your profession?

A constant communication with my team and other colleagues is what assists me in always knowing what is coming and what is changing within the organization pertaining to my field of work. Reading up on news and going through the articles that my organization sends out is also key in me staying up to date.

What do you enjoy doing for fun outside of the office?

I enjoy spending time with friends and doing some reading on other fields of science in my time out of office.
