Sanlam Data and Digital Academy (SDDA) Trainee
Can you tell us why you chose this career?
I’ve always enjoyed problem-solving especially in the sciences; it allows for creativity within objective constraints. In a career in the digital space, I am able to problem solve and utilize my technical skills and knowledge.
What’s a typical day like in your job?
As an SDDA graduate, we go through rigorous training and my days comprise of both dedicated training and working within Sanlam.
What are the some of the highlights and challenges of your role?
Highlights: In the Digital Academy, I have the opportunity to continuously learn (everything from Cloud Computing to Testing Automation) and develop professionally.
Challenges: The transition from University to work has been a challenge. But we are fortunate in that our team is very supportive and has made the transition smoother.
How do you keep up to date with all the changes in your profession?
Both the trainers (who are subject matter experts) and the teams that I have worked with have provided insight into the everchanging Tech field.
What do you enjoy doing for fun outside of the office?
When I’m not working, I like to spend time with family or if time allows, bake.
