Why did you choose this career?
I chose this career because I wanted to learn more about using data analytics and data visualizations to solve banking business problems.
What does your typical day entail?
Morning prep then eat a brief breakfast and pack my lunch before my daily dash to catch the train to work.
On board the train, my time is spent listening to music and podcasts. The shuttle to work usually sees me catching up with a few of the other grads from different business units.
At work, regular consultations with team members (seniors and fellow grads) whilst working through tasks keep me occupied in addition to attending team meetings.
My involvement in these meetings has gradually increased as well as my intake of the free coffee.
After knocking off, taking the shuttle to the station and the train back home follows, often with me meeting another familiar face along the way.
Once back home, relaxing shower before trying my hand at cooking when necessary. Before sleeping for the night, ironing my clothes for the next day is a must.
What are the highlights and challenges of your role?
Highlights: The daily interactions with fellow employees. It is enjoyable to be able to talk with different people from different backgrounds almost all of which are willing to share their experiences within industry. Furthermore, learning things continuously and being able to apply this is fulfilling.
Challenges: Managing the different responsibilities within a set time frame. You do not want to let yourself and your team down, so setting a good standard early and being consistent is paramount.
How do you keep up to date with all the changes in your field of work?
Talking with other interested individuals as well as keeping an eye out on developments online and possible expos available to learn more.
What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?
Sport is a huge passion for me, particularly Football and Boxing. In my free time, you can find me either following my favorite teams, enjoying the company of friends and family or watching a movie at a nearby cinema.
