Honours in Applied Mathematics at the  University of Witwatersrand

What is your role at FNB?

Quantitative Analyst

Why did you choose this career?

I perused things that always came naturally to me, analyzing and solving problems; and then it lead me to this career.

What does your typical day entail?

No day is ever the same, but a quarter of my time I spend on meetings, mostly learning the business and figuring out ways of adding value and then the second quarter would be on coding, i.e querying and manipulating data, third quarter would be on analyzing the data and then finally provide insights and recommendations.

What are the highlights and challenges of your role? 

I celebrate each and every implemented recommendation from my analytical insights. The challenging thing about my role is how versatile you are required to be.

How do you keep up to date with all the changes in your field of work?

Networking has worked for me, here in the office and also cyber networking, in social networks I follow data science handles, people’s brilliance always rubs off and triggers something for me to explore.

What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?

I love exercising, I can do this the whole day ?.

I believe in living a balanced life, so my mind is mostly stimulated here at work, I challenge my body whilst exercising and nourish my soul by reading, meditating and going to church.
